Well, I can’t believe how long it has been since we posted anything. Time really does fly sometimes, doesn’t it? Well, a lot has been going on here so I’ll try and summarize a few of the highlights.

Waaaaaaay back in the beginning of April, Uncle Jeff came to Austin, TX for a first time visit. We took him to a lot of the standard places (Rudy’s, Waterloo, Town Lake, etc…) and spent quite a bit of time at home just hanging out. I was trying to convince Jeff to pack up and move down here but I don’t think I did a good enough sales job. Of course it didn’t help that we had a cold front come in the night Jeff landed…and after he had spent the previous week bragging to all the Michiganders that he was heading to 80 degree weather (remember it was in the 30’s in Michigan when he came to visit). Anyhow, here’s a couple pictures of Uncle Jeff & Ripken bonding at the playground. In typical fashion, Rip demanded Uncle Jeff “ride the froggie”.

The night before Jeff left to go home, we had cousin Kelsey fly in for a visit. We were told that Kelsey would be arriving with a pierced lip…but that was not to be (of course her nose took a hit after she returned to Seattle). Kelsey had a very relaxing time here. Spent a lot of her time in her room doing computer stuff. We were very glad she felt at home enough to just do what she wanted to which was fine with us as long as we got a little face time with her 🙂 We did a bit of eating out during Kesley’s visit as I was not overly interested in cooking that week. Turns out that’s the week we found out we were pregnant and I was a bit too distracted for cooking. All and all, we had a good week and hope Kelsey will want to spend another spring break with us.

Since Kelsey’s departure, we have been trying to maintain a normal life while I have been stricken with morning sickness. While pregnant with Ripken, the only illness I had was towards seafood. This baby has been a bit more dramatic with the nausea. Mac & Cheese wonderful one moment…absolutely disgusting the next. Mimi says the baby must be a girl since she’s giving me problems already…only time will tell 🙂 Kirk has been doing a fabulous job parenting for both of us.
Which has not been an easy task since Rip is most definitely in a mommy phase. Thankfully Kirk has been able to keep Rip distracted enough to let me sleep away some of the sickness.

We had our first doctor’s appointment last week and confirmed that so far so good with baby #2. A picture of the little peanut is below (the baby is the little bitty line in the middle of the big bubble). The sonogram gave a due date of 12/17. Of course, I’m saying they’re wrong and baby #2 will be here early Dec. Again, only time will tell.

I am happy to report that this past week has been the best yet for the morning sickness. I have been able to eat on a regular basis (although I’m still very picky about what) and have actually cooked a few meals this week (first time in 2 weeks).

We’ve been trying to prepare Rip for having a sibling. We ask him every now and then if he wants a baby sister or brother to play with. His immediate reaction is “No”. We’re not sure if he actually understands what we’re asking him but if he does, it’s a good thing we’re starting to prepare him now. He might actually be ok with it in 7 months.

Well, I think that’s about it for now. More pictures/videos to come soon.
